Kento Rei Faun, the Ronin of Hardrock, and the strongest member, is a brash and over-eager Ronin Warrior who always jumps first and thinks later. He cares deeply for his friends and hates that any sense of justice being undermined. He does not think through a situation, but jumps in head first. This usually leads to bad consequences that he ends up regretting. His armor of Hardrock carries with it a virtue of justice which he demonstates throughout the series. He has a temper when it comes to injustice and he's usually the first one to strike a blow. He doesn't think too well before jumping into action, but this is because his heart is bigger than his mind. Kento comes from a large family, with both his parents and four younger sisters and brothers; Rinfi is three years younger, Yun-fat is five years younger, Meiryu is eight years younger, and Chun-Fa is eleven years younger. He often catered to his younger siblings, ensuring they ate before he did, which explains why he was always raiding the fridge for something whenever he got the chance. He once drank spoiled milk because of the fact that spoiled milk turns into cottage cheese and yogurt comes from sour milk.

One of Kento's favorite things to do is eat because he loves food, except Swallow's Nest and Devil's Tongue. His family is never seen in the anime itself, except his Uncle Chin who is introduced in the Gaiden OAV. His ancestors immigrated from China during the Ching Dynasty where the Fauns became very propsperous, opening and owning a restaurant in Chinatown. His father Chanrun is the head of the family, but of the clan there is a member called the Grandfather who is the head. It is not certain whether Kento will follow in his father's footsteps and manage the family business or if he will take place as leader of the clan.

At a very young age Kento learned Chinese Kung-Fu from his mother who was a martial artist master. This training helped Kento in his battles against the Dynasty. Kento's armor's history was passed down through the family by his ancestors. When he was thirteen, Grandfather put Kento through a test to learn whether he was worthy of the armor. During a trip to the family resort while on summer vacation, several treasures of the family were broken. To spare his siblings a harsh punishment, and not knowing how they got broken to begin with, Kento puprosely broke a few more of the treasures in order to take the complete blame. As a result, he passed Grandfather's test and the Armor of Hardrock appeared before him. And thus Kento became a Ronin Warrior.
